About Us

The Geo-Institute (G-I) is a membership organization focused on geoprofessionals and the geo-industry. It was created by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in October 1996 as one of ASCE’s specialty Institutes. The Connecticut Valley Chapter of the ASCE Geo-Institute was established on April 4, 2016, as a Chapter of the ASCE Geo-Institute, and is supported by the Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers as an organization of geo-professionals and civil engineers dedicated to ongoing education and growing connections within the industry.

Our event attendance and membership span New England, New York, and beyond. We coordinate speakers and meeting topics for some of CSCE’s monthly virtual lunch and dinner meetings and host two annual events, a Geotechnical Workshop in the spring (usually in April), and a regional conference in the fall (late September) known as GEO-Connecticut or GEO-CT.

Our events are an excellent opportunity to earn New York State Professional Development Hours (NYS PDHs), learn directly from leaders in the industry, network with colleagues, and become more engaged in the industry. Our events draw a variety of attendees including consulting engineers, academia students and professors, public sector departments, and contractors. We always welcome fellow engineers to attend our events and become involved in our organization as a volunteer.
